NQPS Consultant Training Workshop, Victoria Falls, October 2022
On 5th-7th October 2022, a consultant capacity building workshop took place in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. Seventeen WHO consultants participated in 2.5 days of workshops and training on providing support to countries in the African Region in the national quality policy and strategy (NQPS) process. Facilitators of the workshop included Dr Gertrude Avortri and Dr Pierre Claver Kariyo, from the WHO African Regional Office, as well as Dr Shams Syed and Dr Matthew Neilson, from the Quality of Care Unit at WHO headquarters in Geneva.
The 17 consultants spent two and a half days discussing the role of a WHO consultant in providing support to countries during the NQPS process, quality of care in the AFRO region, and country case examples from the AFRO region, among other things. Additionally, the consultants were introduced to some key WHO resources, including the Quality Toolkit, the GLL and the NQPS Handbook, which will provide valuable assistance to them in their roles in the future. These consultants will be a great additional resource to countries in the AFRO region seeking to improve quality of care.
